Dublin, Ireland. 10 October 2006 -- iameco, Ireland’s first line of environmentally-sound, high-performance personal computers, have been officially launched and are now available at Micropro’s retail outlet in Dublin and on-line at www.iameco.com.
The new range of PCs, designed and assembled in Ireland, are free of many of the harmful materials, such as brominated flame retardants, PVCs and heavy metals like lead, cadium and mercury that have been regularly used in computer manufacture for years. Moreover, this new range of high-specification computers are housed in carefully designed, and beautifully finished cases, which come in several varieties of solid natural woods, including Ash, Maple, Beech and Ebony. iameco PCs also come with matching wood-finish keyboards, mice and flat-screen monitors which double as high-definition TVs.
"I have been in the computer business for close to two decades and in that time, I have been aware of the astonishing waste in the PC industry. With iameco computers, we have cut this waste out, and have built beautiful, high-specification computers without any of the toxins that have traditionally been used in computer manufacture. Not only has great care gone into the outside of these machines, we have put just as much effort into ensuring that iameco computers are powerful enough for everything from 3D gaming and design, to simple e-mail and word processing,” said Paul Maher, creator of the iameco line of computers.
iameco computers are up to one third the size of standard computers and have been designed to last up to three times longer than traditional PCs, with their fully upgradeable Intel inside motherboards. The use of solid woods, sourced from sustainable reserves around the world, means that Iameco may soon become the only PC maker in the world to earn the EU’s coveted Eco-Label mark for high-quality consumer products that meet the highest environmental standards.
Paul Maher added: "The demand for an environmentally friendly PC is strong, from within Ireland and throughout the world. We have strong environmental principles and we have founded this company to help make computer manufacture more sustainable and Ireland just a bit greener."
iameco™ designed by MicroPro Computers is committed to creating superior PCs and computer peripherals with the highest environmental and technical standards. For more information visit www.iameco.com
